UBS MOTOR CARS UNDER THE STARTS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 3, 2009

Celebrating The Spirit of Competition And Benefiting United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity

PHILADELPHIA-United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity announces The Sixth Annual UBS Motor Cars Under The Stars has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. The event will be held at the Simeone Foundation Museum located at 6825-31 Norwitch Drive in Philadelphia. Guests will stroll the expansive museum that celebrates the evolution of the race-car as the result of seven decades of the "spirit of competition." The museum's world-class display features 65 racing sports cars from the private collection of Dr. Fred Simeone. A special collection will be curated just for this event, of privately owned performance cars from the golden era of racing (late 1940s to early 1960s) including Ralph Lauren's 1950 Jaguar K 120. Modern day classics from Jaguar and Land Rover will also be on display including the new engine 2010 supercharged Jaguar XFR (not yet released and first time to be seen in Philadelphia market) and the not yet released 2010 Land Rover LR4, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

 

The event was founded in 2003 by Ken Catanella of UBS Financial Services Inc and is chaired by Frank A. Roccisano of UBS Financial Services Inc. and Michael Smyth of The Great Britains and Jaguar Land Rover Main Line. Dick Vermeil serves as Honorary Event Chair, John Colabelli as Journal Chair and Dasha Yermakova as Young Friends' Chair. CBS 3 Anchors Susan Barnett, Chris May along with Traffic Reporter Bob Kelly will serve as the evening’s emcees and Maddy and Harvey Rovinsky, owners of Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelers will be the event honorees. Philadelphia Magazine and the Philadelphia Inquirer are Media Partners, Bacardi U.S.A., Inc. and Brown-Forman are the beverage sponsors and Origlio is the beer sponsor.

 

Guests will enjoy cocktails and dinner amongst the cars. All attendees will receive a collector's poster from Philadelphia-based and world-renowned automobile photographer Michael Furman that will feature a 1956 Jaguar D type racing car. The Calderwood Gallery/Calderwood 2 will present a display of collectible furnishings. An onsite display featuring a collection of TAGHeuer watches, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its revolutionary Monaco Chronograph. Freeman's Auctioneers and Appraisers will be on site with a display of classic Judith Lieber bags. Talented singer Timmy Kelly of Huntingdon Valley, who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, will perform. Timmy is the youngest blind child in the history of the Philadelphia School District to be mainstreamed. He will also serve as the event's Honorary Young Friends' Chair. UCP builds on the success of the 2008 event, held at Cairnwood and honoring Hadley Rouse and Timmy Kelly, which raised $250,000 for UCP and attracted close to 450 supporters. UBS Motor Cars Under the Stars is sponsored by UBS Financial Services Inc. and The Great Britains and Land Rover Jaguar Main Line. Proceeds will be used to support United Cerebral Palsy's Family Resource Services that provide support to families when they have unexpected emergencies or need to acquire assistive technology or adaptive equipment.
