Tanya & Lenny

Tanya and Lenny are longtime members of UCP's Community Recreation program. Living with her family in Philadelphia, Tanya is 38 and has cerebral palsy. Lenny is 40 years old and was born with Down's syndrome. He lives with his family in Philadelphia and works at Temple University's Johnson/Hardwick Cafeteria. For as long as either can remember, they have attended UCP's All Star Labor Classic. Both Tanya and Lenny are big basketball fans and enjoy watching this annual high school tournament, which raises money for UCP. In fact, many Recreation members and residents in UCP Community Living Arrangements, along with UCP staff attend each year to watch the games and enjoy the fun. In addition to sports, they like playing bingo, going bowling, and taking community trips with UCP Recreation. More than the activities, they both say friendship is the best part of being a Recreation member. They have made lots of friends over the years and can spend time with them at UCP.
