Auction to benefit more than 3,000 children and families living with disabilities
United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity to Host Fantasy Auction
Philadelphia, PA — United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity will host its 22nd annual Fantasy Auction on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 7 PM inside the Hilton Philadelphia on City Avenue. The evening will honor Retired Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Russell M. Nigro and his decades of service to the citizens of Pennsylvania. While serving as Supreme Court Justice, Russell was recognized with the William J. Brennan, Jr. Distinguished Jurist Award, which recognizes individuals who adhere to the highest ideals of judicial service.
The evening will also include live and silent auctions, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, gourmet food stations and music. All proceeds will benefit United Cerebral Palsy’s programs and services, which benefit more than 3,000 children and families each year throughout the Greater Delaware Valley.
Steve Sheridan, CEO of United Cerebral Palsy, commented on the event, “The auction is such an important event because it gives people a way to get involved, raise money and ultimately help the people who need it most. The needs of the individuals and families we serve continue to grow, and this event helps us to provide them with family support services, recreational activities and many other opportunities designed to make their lives a little bit easier.”
Steve Highsmith, myphl17 Director of Community Relations & NBC10 Political Reporter will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The silent auction will include more than 250 items. Live auction items include throwing out the first pitch at a Phillies game, a Fantasy Weekend in New York City and a trip to tropical St. Maarten. About Russell M. Nigro
For nearly 20 years, Russell M. Nigro served the citizens of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia as both a State Supreme Court Justice and a Trial Judge with the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. While serving on the State Supreme Court, Russell was recognized with the William J. Brennan, Jr. Distinguished Jurist Award by the Philadelphia Bar Association. This award recognizes individuals who adhere to the highest ideals of judicial service. Russell is a graduate of Temple University and earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, Camden, NJ. He was a founding partner of Nigro, Koplove, Kilstein & Datz, and later a sole practitioner with his own firm. Russell currently serves as a Board Member with the Board of Revision and Taxes in Philadelphia and continues to work as a Mediator and Arbitrator.
