Hykeem & his Family

Hykeem and his family live in a two story home in Philadelphia. Because of his cerebral palsy, Hykeem has significantly limited mobility. Since he was a child, Hykeem's parents would carry him up and down the stairs. That was not a problem when he was younger, but as a growing adolescent, it became more difficult and more dangerous. Hykeem and his family received support from the Bellows Fund, which is made available from United Cerebral Palsy's national office through its affiliates to provide assistive technology devices to individuals with disabilities who have financial need. The Davis family has used this monetary award to install a stair glide to help them care for Hykeem. For his parents, it has made caring for their son safer and easier. For Hykeem, the trip up and down the stairs is a much smoother ride.
