HEAD START / PRE-K COUNTS

HEAD START

Through a partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, UCP offers Head Start services to a limited number of our families who live in Philadelphia. Head Start provides comprehensive child development services to economically disadvantaged children and their families, with a special focus on helping preschoolers develop the early reading and math skills they need to be successful in school. Income guidelines apply. In addition to our preschool program, children enrolled in Head Start participate in family-focused health, nutrition, and social services.

 PRE-K COUNTS

PA Pre-K Counts, established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, is bringing quality pre-kindergarten programs to three- and four-year-old children across the commonwealth. UCP is able to offer a limited enrollment for Pre-K Counts services to our families who live in Philadelphia. Pre-K Counts is designed for children who are at risk of school failure, either because of income (300% above the federal poverty level, or a family of four earning $61,950), language (English is not the first language), cultural or disability-related issues.
